daddy + daughter = the best

It's not the first time that I've earned the" Worst Mom of the Year Award"... you can read about the first award here. But this actually turned out OK. I missed the deadline for the neighborhood Annual Daddy Daughter Dance. Emma and her sweet friend had never gone before so they would not really know what they had missed... thankfully. SO - we made our own date night and "dance". The girls and the dads got all dressed up. They went to a nice Italian restaurant and returned to a somewhat transformed living room all set up to do a little dancing. The boys stayed back with the mommies to get things ready. Everyone seemed to have fun...

Love that we have sweet friends to share such fun girl memories with. Love that the brothers never complained or said "what about me?" and were happy to stay back with the moms and hang out together. Love that the dads were SO great and were super good sports about the whole thing... and even danced with their girls. Precious. Love that we missed the deadline and had a simple evening...

Valentine's Day

"For the LORD is good and His love endures forever;
His faithfulness continues through all generations."
Psalm 100:5 NIV

Dinner for four in our kitchen... home night with the kiddos... simply lovely. Hope you have a great weekend!

Love Week: Day Five

"May your unfailing love rest upon us, O LORD,
even as we put our hope in you." Psalm 33:22 NIV

Lots of fun making Valentines today and decorating our Valentine holders... Big Mess! But Big Fun! We played outside with friends and had dinner with friends... fun filled day.

Love Week: Day Four

"Your love, O LORD, reaches to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the skies." Psalm 36:5

Well, the kiddos helped me assemble their valentines yesterday... they can't wait to give them to their classmates. Lots of hype before bed last night... you'd think it was Christmas Eve or something! Needless to say, they are looking forward to our day at school... they had their clothes laid out before noon yesterday... I think that's a record around here.

Love Week: Day Three

In effort to limit v-day candy... I plan to try to step away from my kiddos giving candy away to their fellow students. Em decided to give her classmates little play dough with her valentine photo in an envelope above. I'll post the finished product tomorrow... Have not finished that yet.

And this is something I had a vision for for a while... Hudson's valentine... together we took our old crayons and divided up the green and blue for melting and making little crayon "worlds". To go with the John 3:16 Bible verse. For complete instructions for melting crayons go here.

I still have not figured out how I'm going to put it all together but will post a photo soon.

And here are the teacher gifts... I had so much fun wrapping these up totally inspired by this gal. Thought it such a great gifts idea... And the Owl's I just free-handed an owl then used it as a template to reproduce them on scrapbook paper. They make me happy!... Still need to wrap and tie ribbon around these gifts and print something like " 'Owl' always think you're great! "

Love Week: Day Two

"Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good;
His love endures forever." Psalm 107:1 NIV

Photo shoot from last year in frames above... you can see more from last year here... but it was all inspired by this gal... LOVE her. I've "known" BH before scrapbooking was cool! So happy she has a blog so I can read about everything she does... so much inspiration.

Tomorrow I'll post this year's photo shoot for Valentine's...

Love Week: Day One

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son,
that who ever believes in him shall not perish
but have eternal life."

John 3:16 NIV

We enjoy celebrating Valentine's Day around here... as a family. And I'm looking for creative - Bible focused - ways to celebrate with the kiddos this year... if YOU have some fun family ideas please share!

We'll be busy this week creating valentine's for our friends, teachers and family... fun week ahead. When I know what I'm doing I'll post pictures for sure!

fresh flowers...

"Mommy... why are you taking so many pictures of the flowers?"

"Well, I think they are so pretty. And we have not had fresh flowers in the house in a while..."

"Oh."

You'd think my kiddos would be use to mommy taking weird pictures of things by now... but I guess some times they just need to ask. Hopefully I'll teach them about perspective and beauty... so many details. So much to take in.

Got the flowers from this place with my coupon... free! Free are the best kind of flowers because they just don't last very long... but I do love them.

Beginning to get my head out of the Winter Blues or Blaaas... probably has nothing to do with having the best winter weather ever... I can't complain about 70 degrees. Talk about Spring Fever... can't get use to it though. Winter is not over... not yet. But until then... we'll be playing outside.

Super Commercials

Yeah... we watched the game some... as I kept a heating pad on my aching back. Ugh. Frustrating. I also watched The Devil Wears Prada... love that movie. But we were ready for the 3D commercials at half time... so funny.

It's February... the time goes by so fast. I'm up to date on my Project 365 but need some inspiration in my photos... they seem a little boring. But maybe that tells you about our January. Still have 11 months to go...

Feeling inspired by red hearts and my word "love"... will post our Valentine's soon... it's an idea I've been thinking about for a while now. Need to have a little photo shoot with the kiddos... better get busy. Out V-Day party is next Thursday...

So hope to post some things I'm working on soon... until then here is what I painted for Hudson's space room... they make me giggle.
