a baby Cardinal...

... isn't she the CUTEST thing ever? Cardinals have nested in our tree in the front yard. Saturday morning we watched the momma and daddy feed their three baby birds in the nest. Yesterday the momma and daddy taught the babies how to fly... it was so amazing! The momma and daddy stayed close by as the baby worked hard to strengthen her wings and by the end of the day she was flying up on top of the roof next door! We all cheered! (quietly...)

... a picture of the nest in our front yard...

... the momma trying to work with the baby to fly yesterday morning. It was so amazing watching from the window. The bush was just a few feet away from me!

... and the daddy keeping watch over the baby making sure she was doing okay... good little summer nature lesson for the kiddos... and me!

I LOVE cardinals! I've never seen a baby one before! :0) We have a couple nested in the photinias in our backyard. They're my favorite! The male flew into our patio door this morning, as a matter of fact. I like to think it's because I keep the glass so streak-free and clean. HA!
